Telecommunications professional and strategic leader with 27+ years of experience shaping, deploying, and modernizing Nepal's national telecommunications infrastructure. Currently serving as Deputy Manager at Nepal Telecom with a proven track record in large-scale network planning, project implementation, technology transformation, and operational management.
Over more than two decades, I have led and contributed to major telecom network initiatives spanning optical link, microwave link, CDMA (IS-95/CDMA2000 1x/EVDO) and GSM radio access networks (2G, 3G, and 4G) deployments. My experience extends across the complete project lifecycle, from strategic planning and network design to procurement, implementation, testing, optimization and operational handover.
As a technocrat, I have worked extensively with multidisciplinary teams, technology partners, vendors, contractors, and organizational stakeholders, ensuring that complex projects are delivered with a strong focus on quality, cost effectiveness, timelines, network performance and long-term sustainability.
My professional focus is at the intersection of technology, strategy, project leadership and organizational performance. I am particularly interested in advancing next-generation telecommunications, digital connectivity, network modernization and innovative approaches that strengthen Nepal's digital infrastructure.
02 Technology journey
Over 27+ years in telecommunications, my professional journey has closely followed the evolution of Nepal's mobile and digital communications landscape, from ISP and early CDMA networks to the deployment and modernization of 2G, 3G, and 4G networks, and now toward the strategic adoption of 5G and next-generation digital infrastructure.
Beginning of My Technical Career
I began my professional technical journey with an Internet Service Provider, gaining hands-on experience in telecommunications, information technology, and end-to-end network operations. I was responsible for the administration, management, upgrading, and day-to-day operation of the ISP's technical infrastructure, along with planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling technical activities across the branch office and sub-branches. This role strengthened my expertise in network infrastructure, service delivery, troubleshooting, technology deployment, and operations, establishing a strong technical foundation for my subsequent career in network planning, project implementation, technology migration, optimization, and telecommunications management.
Building the Foundation
Began my telecom journey with CDMA technology, gaining extensive experience in CDMA BSS, BTS, BSC, PDSN, 1x and EV-DO networks. Contributed to network deployment, capacity expansion, transmission planning, optimization, and operational management, supporting reliable connectivity across challenging geographic environments.
Transition to Nationwide Mobile Connectivity
Contributed to the expansion and modernization of GSM radio access networks, supporting large-scale 2G deployment and network planning. Developed strong expertise in radio network implementation, capacity planning, optimization, and infrastructure management while supporting the transition toward more advanced mobile technologies.
Enabling Mobile Broadband
Played a key role in the implementation and evolution of 3G networks, including network rollout, capacity enhancement, transmission and power-system planning, testing, optimization, and operational readiness. The transition to 3G marked a significant shift from traditional voice-centric services toward mobile broadband and data-driven connectivity.
Driving the Digital Transformation
Led and contributed to large-scale 4G/LTE network deployment and modernization initiatives, covering network planning, project implementation, vendor coordination, acceptance testing, performance optimization, and infrastructure expansion. Focused on improving coverage, capacity, quality of service, and data experience while optimizing network resources and investment.
Shaping the Next Generation
Building on extensive experience across previous generations, my current professional focus extends toward 5G network planning and transformation, including spectrum strategy, NSA/SA deployment considerations, network architecture, capacity planning, service evolution, and integration with emerging technologies such as IoT, cloud, AI, and advanced digital services.
My career reflects more than the evolution of telecommunications technologies; it represents a continuous journey of network transformation, project leadership, innovation, and organizational value creation. From establishing foundational mobile networks to preparing for next-generation connectivity, the focus has remained consistent: deploying reliable, scalable, efficient, and future-ready telecommunications infrastructure that enables digital transformation and connects people, businesses, and communities.
